ABBOA Withdraws From Collective Bargaining

Date : 28 May 2009

Dear ABBOA members,

Re : ABBOA Withdraws From Collective Bargaining

This is to inform that the Union had withdrawn from the collective bargaining with the Bank since it had reached an impasse on Tuesday, 26th May 2009.

That decision came after several unsuccessful meetings between the Union’s negotiation team and the Bank’s representatives, which started since 14th April 2009.

After two rounds of negotiation, both parties had agreed only the following 10 from 35 Articles:-

1. Parties to the Agreement
2. Scope of Agreement
3. Modification & Termination
4. Settlement of Dispute
5. Recognition of Bank
6. Recognition of Union
7. Probation & Confirmation
8. Discipline
9. Termination of Employment
10. Advances

The Union is proposing for 41% salary adjustment and 7% increments. On this matter, the Union expected the Bank to put forward a counter-proposal on our requests. However, the Bank put a stand to base entirely on Tower Perrin analysis and Total Performance Base.

As such, the Union came to a conclusion that it was meaningless to continue with the collective bargaining with the Bank.

Therefore, the Union had decided to declare deadlock and to refer the matter to Industrial Relation Department, Ministry of Human Resource for a decision.

Thank you.

Yours truly,

AZRI BIN MOHD ISA
President.
